An overweight child is at risk from Type II Diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Funfit is a group fitness class for children 6 years and up. We provide a safe yet challenging environment where your child will feel confident.
The Funfit program will:
- improve overall fitness
- with a sensible mix of nutrition and exercise, will help reduce body fat for the long term
- teach your child many new fun skills
- be a lot of fun

If your child is overweight, below are some reasons for getting your child back on track.
Physiological differences between overweight children and lean children
During physical activity, overweight children can experience the following
- increased heel pain
- lower back pain
- increased incidence of osteo-arthritis of knee
- increased chance of rigid flat foot and foot pain
- decreased range of motion around joints due to excessive adipose tissue
- decreased ability to balance due to less stable centre of gravity
- increased incidence of asthma
Funfit is a group fitness class aimed at children 5 years and up who are carrying too much weight. Helping children into a more active life and reducing body fat, needs to be a joint effort between Kids Exercise, your child and you, the parent. Our emphasis is on fun, improvement in fitness and the reduction in body fat. We will teach your children how to be active and show them how to enjoy it. The program is fun with lots of appropriate music, and lots of cardio based games and strengthening activities.
Getting children to self-regulate themselves and choose healthy options on their own can be an uphill struggle. However, with explanation and support from us and you the parents, your children can be taught to choose the healthy choices themselves.
It is important to bear in mind that genes only dictate the range of our weight - exercise and healthy eating can control at which end of the range a child will fall.
